Athletic Club provide Oihan Sancet injury update | OneFootball

La Liga outfit Athletic Club have unveiled a medical report on midfield star Oihan Sancet.

This comes, for those who may have missed it, after the 24-year-old set alarm bells sounding in the Basque Country on Wednesday.

Athletic Club marked their return to action yesterday evening, welcoming relegation-battling Las Palmas to San Mamés for a La Liga clash.

Sancet was for his part in from the off in the matchup, featuring from his customary berth in attacking midfield.

Inside the 20-minute mark, however, the Spanish international pulled up with what appeared to be a muscular issue, forcing him into a swift exit from proceedings.

Just a week out from Athletic’s Europa League semi-final first-leg showdown with Manchester United, as much marked a major concern for all associated with the club.

And as alluded to above, a day on, Los Leones have provided an update on the situation.

As per a statement across Athletic’s website and social media platforms:

‘Oihan Sancet was substituted in the 22nd minute of yesterday’s game against UD Las Palmas after suffering a moderate muscle injury in the biceps femoris of his left leg.

‘He is awaiting further treatment.’

Whilst no timeline for Sancet’s recovery has been provided, it looks highly unlikely that he will be available for next Thursday’s showdown with Man United.
