Real Madrid hold a slender one-goal lead ahead of an intriguing second leg showdown
Atletico Madrid will aim to overturn a first leg deficit when they renew hostilities with Real Madrid in the Champions League on Wednesday night.
Atletico trail by one following Brahim Diaz's late goal in last week's first leg and Diego Simeone’s side know they must score at least once to avoid elimination at the hands of their city rivals at the last-16 stage.
Having said that, Atleti are yet to keep a clean sheet at home in the Champions League so far this season. Although they did win three of their four matches in the revamped league phase.
The holders make the short trip across the city on the back of a 2-1 win over Rayo Vallecano to move level on points with Barcelona at the top of the La Liga table and are in good form heading into the second leg.
It promises to be an intriguing showdown in the Spanish capital with the winners set to face either Arsenal or PSV Eindhoven in next month’s quarter-final.
Atletico Madrid vs Real Madrid is scheduled for an 8pm GMT kick-off on Wednesday, March 12, 2025.
The match will take place at the Metropolitano Stadium.
TV channel: In the UK, the game will be televised live on TNT Sports 3. Coverage starts at 7.30pm GMT ahead of an 8pm kick-off.

Clement Lenglet suffered an injury during the warm-up before Atletico's defeat against Getafe at the weekend and was replaced by Jose Gimenez in the starting lineup. To make matters worse, Rodrigo De Paul then limped off at half-time with a muscular concern.
Both the on-loan Frenchman and key midfielder are doubts for Wednesday night's clash, but Cesar Azpilicueta is available again after injury.
Real Madrid, meanwhile, can welcome back Jude Bellingham after he missed the first leg through suspension. The Englishman is likely to start in central midfield, but Dani Ceballos, Dani Carvajal and Eder Militao are absent.

Playing the second leg at home is usually a massive advantage for any side when it comes to knockout football. Atletico will look use the crowd as the 12th man in their attempt to progress.
However, Los Blancos are the masters of this competition and they seems to always find a way through even if their backs are against the wall. The game state should suit the visitors as the likes of Kylian Mbappe and Vinicius Jr. are so devastating in transition.
