Atlético de Madrid took on Alavés at the Metropolitano on Saturday afternoon.
Here's what went down.
Scorers: Guridi 7' (PEN); Griezmann 76' (PEN), Sørloth 86'
Atlético Madrid made their home fans wait as they left it late to beat Alavés by a 2-1 scoreline.
Diego Simeone's side got off to the worst possible start when Javi Galán was penalised for a handball in the area and Jon Guridi converted the resulting penalty to give Alavés a shock lead.
The away side held on to that 1-0 lead until the 76th minute after they conceded a penalty of their own when Abdel Abqar was ruled to have handled in the box, and this time Antoine Griezmann tucked away the spot-kick.
Alavés might've been content to settle for a point at this stage, but the home side rallied and took the lead with just four minutes of normal time remaining as Alexander Sørloth beat the offside trap and smashed home a finish at the near post.
The result leaves them second in the table, pending Real Madrid's result on Sunday.
Next up for Atleti is an away trip to Sparta Prague in the Champions League on Tuesday evening.
