In a recent report, Sport mentioned that Barcelona have cooled their interest in Arsenal starlet Miguel Azeez this summer. It has been stated that the Catalan club are likely to pull the plug in their pursuit of the English midfielder as they are planning to explore other options during this summer transfer period.
Azeez had an uneventful six-month loan spell at Wigan Athletic recently. He made just two appearances for them before returning to Arsenal earlier this summer.
The 20-year-old has made just one senior appearance for the Gunners thus far. He is a product of the North London’s youth system but is yet to prove his worth at the highest level.
The London-born talent looks set to have a very promising future in English football. Hence, it is no surprise that Barcelona were interested in recruiting him this summer.

Azeez is an energetic midfielder who usually works hard for his side defensively at the centre of the park. The English talent can also make a few lively runs with the ball when he is playing with confidence on the pitch.
However, Azeez needs to add some end-product to his game if he wants to taste more first-team football in the future. He is primarily a box-to-box midfielder but can also function as a holding midfielder or as an attacking midfielder if told to do so. At 20, the gifted starlet has the potential to become a household name in English football.
Azeez would have been a great signing for Barcelona in the long run. However, the Catalan club‘s current financial struggles mean that they have to be more selective about their transfer targets this summer.
All in all, it seems like Barca are making the right ball by cooling their interest in Azeez as they would be better off strengthening some of the other areas of their match-day squad before the start of the new campaign.
