The season in La Liga is shaping up quite well. While Barcelona looked like runaway champions earlier in the season, Real Madrid soon caught up as the Catalans’ dominance fell off.

Now, Barcelona have once again made an astonishing comeback and are currently leading the league. Real Madrid, for their part, are winless in their last three La Liga matches, but they haven’t quite performed poorly and were largely let down by poor refereeing.

The reigning European champions even smashed aside Manchester City in the Champions League recently – a game that saw Kylian Mbappe produce one of his best performances in a White shirt.

Deco acknowledges Real Madrid’s form

Real Madrid’s current run of form was even acknowledged by none other than Barcelona sporting director Deco, in a recent interview with Movistar.

When asked about Real Madrid’s recent performances, the Brazilian pointed out how the Whites have been showing an uptrend since December.

“Real Madrid are back in form? All teams go through different phases, there are better and worse moments during the season. I think Real Madrid have been in good shape for a long time,” Deco said.

“For me, they are a team that has been getting back to their best since December, they have been scoring goals again and their main stars have been scoring again,” the Barcelona sporting director added.

Deco’s statement comes in the midst Real Madrid’s ongoing war with referees in Spain, with the Spanish champions arguing that some of the refereeing decisions in recent matches have cost them valuable points in the league.

That being said, it is perhaps fair to say that we are now at a stage where both Barcelona and Real Madrid are looking in their best shape – all prepared for a crucial final phase of the campaign.
