Dani Olmo’s return to the pitch remains uncertain, with concerns growing within the club over his continued absence.

As reported by journalist Javier Miguel through AS, there is no set timeline for the star signing’s recovery.

In fact, Olmo, who was one of the major acquisitions this summer, has appeared in just around 30% of the games this season, largely due to injury and registration issues.

What happened to Olmo?

Earlier this month, Olmo sustained an overload injury in the soleus muscle of his right leg, which led to him missing three matches in all competitions.

The injury occurred during a match against Getafe, where he had been on the field for only 28 minutes after coming on as a substitute for Gavi in the 62nd minute.

Despite the brief appearance, Olmo felt pain in his leg, and medical tests confirmed the overload in the muscle. At first, it was speculated that the recovery would take about ten days, but the deadline has passed, and Olmo has not returned to training.

This means he is now expected to miss more than two weeks, including the upcoming match against Alaves.

Trouble for Barcelona

This ongoing injury problem is concerning for the club, especially given that Olmo has already missed a significant amount of time this season due to other issues.

Aside from the recent injury, the Spanish international had previously been sidelined for over a month due to a tear in his right leg’s femoral biceps.

These setbacks, combined with complications related to his registration, have kept him from being a consistent presence on the pitch.

While Olmo’s recovery timeline remains unclear, there is more clarity surrounding the situation with Inigo Martinez.

The return of the centre-back will provide Hansi Flick with a key defensive leader, a crucial figure who can influence the game with his experience and presence against Alaves.
