Over the course of the last summer transfer window, FC Barcelona had to be quite careful with their spending. With a limited budget, the Catalan giants thoughtfully chose the targets that they wished to pursue. Ultimately, only two new signings were made by Barcelona.

One was Pau Victor, and the big arrival of the summer transfer window was none other than Dani Olmo. For many, this signing was one that clearly divided opinions among supporters of the club. That is mainly because of the fact that Athletic Club winger Nico Williams was also a possible target for the club.

Ultimately, due to possibly a mixture of his own reluctance to leave his club and the financial demands of the operation, Barcelona were unable to sign the player. However, it seems that the club has no intention of pursuing him again in the upcoming summer.

According to MARCA, Barça are not interested in acquiring the services of the Athletic Club forward as they believe that they already have two of the world’s best wingers at their disposal. In fact, the club will reportedly make no offensive signings in the summer window.

With Robert Lewandowski producing high numbers and even the likes of both Ferran Torres and Dani Olmo playing well as offensive alternatives when needed, Hansi Flick’s team is secure in that particular area. Instead, other positions in the team may need a better look.

Moreover, with the Polish ace still having a year left on his contract, both Barcelona and Flick are satisfied with his performances this season. His goals are proving to be important, and he has found his rhythm with the rest of his teammates this season.

Still, it remains to be seen what Barcelona end up doing in the summer. They already know that they must first return to the 1:1 rule, and only then can they even consider the options of making proper signings. As of right now, the plans that they have do not involve signing new forwards.
