With the summer transfer window a few months away, plans are starting to take shape at FC Barcelona to strengthen their squad for the next season.
One of the positions that the Blaugrana management intend to bolster in the summer is right-back, where they want to add a quality cover for first-choice starter Jules Kounde.
Andrei Ratiu of Rayo Vallecano has already been touted as a potential target while Barcelona have not forgotten about Marc Pubill, whom they tried to sign last summer from UD Almeria.
Now, it appears that another player has caught the eye of the Catalans as they search for a new right-back.
Indeed, according to Antena 2 in Colombia (h/t MARCA), Barcelona are monitoring Crystal Palace right-back Daniel Munoz.
The La Liga giants are, however, likely to face competition from Manchester City and Chelsea, who are also interested in the Colombian international.
Since joining Crystal Palace in January 2024, Munoz has become one of the best right-backs in the Premier League. The 28-year-old is enjoying a fine season so far, having racked up five goals and five assists for the Eagles.

In fact, across Europe’s top five leagues, only one player in his position has scored more goals: Denzel Dumfries (8).
A potent force in attack, the Colombian is also a reliable defender and is the Premier League’s most successful tackler this season, completing 61 of his 91 attempted tackles.
Back in 2020, Munoz, while playing for KRC Genk in Belgium, revealed that he dreamt of playing for Barcelona.
“I have always loved and dreamed of playing for Barcelona, but I also love English football, I want to play in the Premier League, whatever team it is,” he had said.
The 28-year-old had also revealed that he idolised two Barça legends, Ronaldinho and Dani Alves, saying:
“As a child, my idol was always Ronaldinho. I played as a winger and I used to look up to players like him. When I started playing as a full-back I looked up to Dani Alves, his movements, how he attacked and defended, so he also became my idol.”
Munoz’s contract with Crystal Palace runs until 2027 with the Premier League side retaining the option of an additional year.
