Barcelona won their first trophy of the Hansi Flick era last night as they humbled arch-rivals Real Madrid 5-2 in Jeddah in the finals of the Spanish Super Cup.

It was an exceptional all-round display from the Blaugrana who were the better team on the night by a mile with all players playing their part on the night.

But Raphinha was the standout performer for the Super Cup champions, tearing apart the Real Madrid defence much like he had done in the first El Clasico of the season.

The Brazilian finished the game with two goals and was rightly named the Best Player of the Match for his dazzling display.

Team trophies matter more for Raphinha

Speaking to the media after the match, Raphinha admitted that it was nice to be named the MVP of a final match but insisted that for him, the team trophies matter more.

“The MVP? The important thing is the collective titles, that’s why I came to Barça,” Raphina said.

“I am quite happy to have been able to help the team secure the victory. Whether I play well or poorly is not the important thing. What matters to me is always giving my best to help Barcelona lift trophies,” he further stated.

The Brazilian winger underscored the significance of the Spanish Super Cup, describing it as a confidence booster.

“This Super Cup gives us a lot of confidence for the rest of the season. It feels really good,” said Raphinha.

This is the second time this season that Barcelona have absolutely outplayed Real Madrid and given them a hammering defeat.

“We know Real Madrid are a great team, but we are focused on ourselves. We have been working hard since the beginning of the season and understand what we need to do on the pitch,” highlighted Raphinha.

“We trust the coach, he trusts us, and the most important thing is that we can compete for titles and win them,” he added.

Finally, the winger was also full of praise for the way the team reacted after Wojciech Szczesny’s red card in the second half.

“We defended really well. The most important thing was to protect the result and the title, and we did that very effectively. I am quite proud of my team. We gave it everything,” he concluded.
