Barcelona now keeping an eye on 18-year-old Dutch fullback linked to Liverpool – Report | OneFootball

There is always a desire to improve and develop at FC Barcelona no matter what. For the Catalan giants, it is a crucial objective every season and one that cannot be understated. However, it is also true that recent financial issues have limited the ways Barcelona can manage such an objective.

One specific area in the team for which the club continues to look for possible options is the full-back position. While both Alejandro Balde and Jules Kounde have been more than reliable this season, Barcelona wants to have more options available there as well.

According to SPORT, one such option that has emerged recently is Givairo Read from Feyenoord. Hailing from the Netherlands and currently playing in the Dutch Eredivisie, the 18-year-old right-back is a top talent who has been making a name for himself.

With a €4 million valuation set for him by Transfermarkt, the player would not be an expensive target either. Despite his great form, one which has seen him provide seven assists this season and showcase his elite athleticism as well, he continues to have a rather modest valuation for now.

For now, Barcelona has started to keep an eye on the player and is getting more invested in his development. However, they have competition from other European sides as well, considering that the report has suggested that Liverpool is also interested in the player.

As for Read himself, his versatility is another aspect of his game that makes him such a desirable player. For Barcelona, his ability to play on either flank is seen as a great asset and one that could allow him to play as a back-up option for both Balde and Kounde.

However, while he is not the only fullback target that Barcelona have in mind, he is definitely a solid option. At the same time, however, any player that comes will have to come with the knowledge that they will need to fight for a place at the club and that will not be easy to do.
