Barcelona’s clash against Osasuna last night was suspended just before kickoff after one of the beloved members of the team’s medical staff passed away in the hours leading up to the game.
Dr. Carles Minarro Garcia, a first-team doctor, passed away in his sleep just before the game and left the dressing room in a state of shock for he was a very loved member of the inner circle.
News of the tragedy, thus, saw Barcelona request for the game to be postponed and Osasuna gracefully accepted the proposal after hearing of the unfortunate development.
It is clear that the doctor’s untimely demise left the particularly young squad in a state of shock for all the players had worked very closely with him even until earlier this week.
Naturally, they did not hold back in pouring out tributes to the departed soul on their social media and poured out their raw emotions at the time.
The tributes were led by club captain Marc-Andre ter Stegen who said the squad will ‘miss him very much.’
Star defender Ronald Araujo and fan favorite Pedri Gonzalez also poured out their heartfelt condolences to the departed soul and penned the following notes.
“Not to believe it. Rest in peace, Doc. Much strength for family and friends. May God strengthen your hearts in this difficult moment,” Araujo wrote.
“I still can’t believe it. A big hug for Carles’ family and friends,” said Pedri.

The tributes were led primarily by the academy graduates and players who worked extensively alongside the doctor with the likes of Eric Garcia, Hector Fort, Fermin Lopez, Gavi, and Alejandro Balde coming out to express how their heart was shattered.
“We will miss you friend Miñarro, thank you for everything you have done for us. My condolences to his whole family,” Eric Garcia wrote.
“Rest in peace doctor… thank you for everything you have done for us. My deepest condolences to family and friends,” penned Hector Fort.
Fan favourite and La Masia star Gavi also echoed the sentiments of his teammates, as he wrote, “RIP Doc, always in our hearts. We will miss you a lot.”
Last summer signing Dani Olmo also took to social media to pay tribute to Dr. Carles Minarro, as he wrote:
“It’s hard to believe and accept everything that has happened… Carles, thank you very much for everything you have helped me with, not only this year but throughout my entire career.
“You will be greatly missed, and you will always be remembered in our hearts, and in the hearts of my family. RIP Doc.”
