Lamine Yamal has been a key component in Barcelona’s attacking setup that has taken Europe by storm this season.
With 101 goals in 32 matches, the current rendition of the Barcelona frontline ranks among the best in the club’s history. And Yamal, to that end, has played a key role.
While Yamal’s nine goals in all competitions have been quite helpful, the forward has been more effective when it comes to creating chances in the final third.
At just 17, he has become one of the top assist providers in Europe’s major leagues. With 10 assists in 18 games for Barça, Yamal is proving his worth on the field, averaging an impressive two assists every two games.
Comparatively, in the Premier League, Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah leads with 13 assists in 22 games, showcasing his experience at 32 years old.

However, Yamal’s numbers place him right behind Salah, tying with Arsenal’s Bukayo Saka for second place across all major European leagues, both having 10 assists.
In the Bundesliga, Florian Wirtz of Bayer Leverkusen has been equally impressive, contributing nine assists in 19 matches, while in Portugal, former Barcelona player Francisco Trincao has made his mark with eight assists in 19 games for Sporting.
Nevertheless, it is Yamal who has impressed onlookers the most with his ability to not only provide pinpoint crosses from wider areas but also dribble past defenders with peak efficiency.
Thanks to Yamal’s prowess on the flanks, Barcelona have emerged as a force to be reckoned with under Hansi Flick, who will hope that the youngster continues his rapid progress in the years to come.
