Barcelona set sights on 25-year-old Ligue 1 winger – report | OneFootball

Barcelona are on the lookout for a new winger in the summer transfer window, with the club keen on strengthening the left flank before next season starts.

Names like Luis Diaz and Rafael Leao have been highlighted as targets while the Catalans have not forgotten about last year’s priority target Nico Williams either.

Now, it appears that another name has emerged as a possible candidate to strengthen the attacking unit at Barcelona.

Edon Zhegrova on Barcelona’s radar

Indeed, according to reports relayed by SPORT, Barcelona and Napoli have set their sights on Lille winger Edon Zhegrova, who is set to leave the French club in the summer.

Zhegrova has informed Lille that he won’t renew his contract, which runs until 2026, meaning the club will look to sell him now rather than risk losing him for free next year.

Zhegrova is a skilled dribbler and a goal threat and has been one of the revelations of the season. He delivered a stellar performance against Real Madrid in the Champions League and was also instrumental in Lille’s victory over Atletico Madrid, scoring a brilliant goal.

The 25-year-old primarily plays on the right wing, but his versatility allows him to operate on the left as well.

Barça scouts have been closely monitoring Lille this season with players like Jonathan David and Lucas Chevalier also on their agenda. It has allowed them to keep close tabs on Zhegrova as well.

Napoli, in the market for a replacement for Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, have already met with his agents, while Barça has yet to make a move.

Zhegrova has openly expressed his admiration for Barcelona in the past, even stating his desire to wear the Blaugrana jersey one day.

Lille signed Zhegrova in 2021 for around €7 million and hopes to sell him for over €30 million this summer. While Premier League clubs have shown interest, the winger prefers a move to Spain or Italy.
