Barcelona star Iñigo Martínez made use of the opportunity to fire something of a warning to the club’s rivals for the La Liga title on Sunday night.
Barcelona, of course, were back in action yesterday evening, making the trip to Andalusia for a meeting with Sevilla.
When all was said and done, the Blaugrana made it a trio of successive victories across all competitions, emerging on the right side of a 4-1 result.
As much means that Hansi Flick’s side now sit just two points back of table-topping Real Madrid in the Spanish top-flight.
After it was previously suggested that Barca were as good as out of the title race following an underwhelming string of results late last year, the Catalans’ bid for La Liga supremacy is now very much back on track.
And one individual who was eager to remind any and all doubters of precisely as much on Sunday was the aforementioned Iñigo Martínez.
Speaking to the media in the aftermath of the full-time whistle at The Ramón Sánchez Pizjuán Stadium, veteran defender Iñigo assured:
“If someone thought we were dead in La Liga, well… tell them that we’re still very much alive! We have ambition, we want to make it happen.”
