Wojciech Szczesny has made a big impact at FC Barcelona in the short time that he has been at the club.
Since making his debut in January, the 34-year-old goalkeeper has established himself as a starter ahead of Inaki Pena and has not tasted defeat even once in 16 matches.
Given that his current contract stands to expire at the end of the season, Barça are already working on a new deal to keep him at the club for longer.
Now, speaking to Jijantes FC, Joshua Barnett, the agent of Szczesny has issued a major update on the goalkeeper’s future at Barcelona, stating that he is very happy at the club and an agreement is unlikely to take long to be finalised.
“Tek [Szczesny] is delighted at Barcelona and Barça are very happy with Tek, so we will easily reach an agreement,” said Barnett.
Continuing, he added: “When the time comes we will understand each other quickly and we won’t have any problems with him renewing his contract.”

In a recent interview, the 34-year-old shot-stopper himself noted that soon the time will come for him to make a decision regarding his future, but insisted that he is now fully focused on the key phase of the season.
Echoing the goalkeeper’s sentiments, his agent stated: “We are in the most important moment of the season and maybe it is not the right time to talk about it.
“But I insist that once we start working on it there will be no problems and we will understand each other very easily.”
Szczesny’s professionalism is highly valued at Barcelona, though the club are currently focused on restoring financial balance under La Liga’s 1:1 spending rule to facilitate future renewals and summer transfers.
But with both sides committed to continuing their partnership, it seems like only a matter of time before the deal is finalised.
