It was reported yesterday that Barcelona’s wish to return to Camp Nou this season is practically impossible, in light of the delays in construction works and other logistical problems.

The report added that Barcelona have handed contracts for the VIP and public seating areas, the works for which will start in a week or so. The entire project is expected to take three months, which further nullified any hopes of a quick return.

No Camp Nou until October

Now, a fresh update from Alberto Martinez and Jordi Cardero suggests that Barcelona are unlikely to return to Spotify Camp Nou at least until October of this year.

The report even goes on to claim that a more viable return date for the revamped Camp Nou would be January 2026 as Barcelona continue to face hiccups in getting the stadium up and running.

As mentioned earlier, the operations for the VIP seating will take at least three months to complete. Barcelona have also postponed the roof works until the summer of 2026.

Moreover, Barcelona are facing multiple issues with regard to permits, as the club are yet to ascertain a proper emergency or evacuation plan for the stadium, in the event of a fire.

Due to unfinished works in several areas of the stadium, Barcelona are not in a position to obtain a license from the firebrigade agencies, which is a necessity.

Limak, the company in charge of the operations, assures that the stadium should be operationally active by May. However, the bureaucracy is going to extend the time frame as the company has no previous experience with Spanish bureaucracy.

The report adds that failing to return to Camp Nou this season could have an economic impact of around €28 million, although this can be offset by a player sale.

Barcelona, in fact, are closely keeping an eye on Francisco Trincao’s situation, as the club reportedly hold a 50% sell-on fee clause for the Portuguese international, who is a target for both Manchester clubs.
