An update on the ongoing renovations at the home of La Liga giants Barcelona has on Monday been forthcoming online.
And the news will no doubt come as a blow to regular match-goers in Catalunya’s capital.
This comes amid confirmation that Barcelona are no longer expected to return to the Spotify Camp Nou before the season is out.
Works to bring the Camp Nou in line with some of world football’s most modern stadiums have of course long been underway.
Owing to as much, Hansi Flick’s Blaugrana squad have been forced to play their home fixtures at Montjuïc across the campaign to date.
Initially, the hope was that Barca would mark their return to the Camp Nou early in 2025.
This date, however, has since been continually pushed back, owing to delays in the construction process.
And as alluded to above, if the latest word stemming from the media on Monday is anything to go by, then fans of the Catalans should not expect to see their side back plying their trade at the club’s beloved ground before next season.
As per a report from Diario Sport:
‘Barcelona’s return home was scheduled to take place this season; however, everything indicates that this will not occur unless there is a last-minute change. Barring a miracle, this season there will be no home game that Hansi Flick’s team will not play at Montjuïc.’
