Robert Lewandowski was the only goal scorer as Alavés visited the Montjuic for their La Liga match against FC Barcelona. The visitors put up stiff resistance against the Catalans’ attack, but the Pole was ultimately able to get the three points for his side.
However, in addition to the Polish veteran, there were several other players who also stood out for the Blaugrana side. One such player was Lamine Yamal, who once again put on a highly entertaining show on the night.
His magical run in the 4th minute of the match was the highlight of his performance, as he beat several Alavés players.
But the match was full of such wizardry from the Barcelona winger, and as Mundo Deportivo has reported, the youngster broke one of the records of the biggest Blaugrana legend, Lionel Messi, with these dribbles.
Yamal successfully completed 11 of the 21 dribbles he attempted in this game, and thus he had more successful dribbles than the Argentine did in the match against Mallorca in 2007. In that game, the legendary Barcelona player completed 10 of his 20 attempted dribbles.
Furthermore, with his performance in this match, Yamal also extended his lead as the best dribbler in La Liga. As things stand, he has 73 successful dribbles to his name in the league competition and thus stands above the likes of Dodi Lukebakio, who has 64 successful dribbles, and Kylian Mbappe, who has 46 successful dribbles.
With this clear lead over his closest competitors, the Barcelona youngster is proving his proficiency in this key aspect of his game. Hopefully, he will be able to take this number even higher in the 16 games left in La Liga this season, and further cement his standing as one of the best wingers in Europe despite being only 17 years of age.
