Barcelona star Pablo Torre made use of his latest outing on Saturday to send something of a message to head coach Hansi Flick.
The message in question? I’m here, and I’m ready to play.
Barcelona of course kicked their schedule for the new year into gear a short time ago, in a Copa del Rey meeting with minnows Barbastro.
When all was said and done, the Blaugrana emerged dominant victors, booking a spot in the competition’s Last-16 courtesy of a 4-0 triumph.
Veteran frontman Robert Lewandowski proved himself the star of the show when it came to the goalscoring, notching a brace.
As alluded to above, though, it was another member of Hansi Flick’s squad who stood as the real standout performer on the pitch.
Afforded a rare start in Barcelona’s midfield, Pablo Torre took full advantage, courtesy of a starring display.
The 21-year-old laid on both of Lewandowski’s goals courtesy of wonderful assists, before turning goalscorer himself early in the 2nd-half.
And, in the process, Torre sent a timely reminder of his talents to the coaching staff in Catalunya’s capital.
The Spaniard has now taken to the pitch on ten occasions this season, for a grand total of less than 350 minutes.
And, despite such limited game-time, he has managed to rack up seven direct goal contributions (4G, 3A).
Whilst Saturday’s action may have come against inferior opposition to the sides which Barcelona face on a week-to-week basis, Torre, through sheer quality, made clear that he deserves a more regular chance to impress.
