Bild reports that Bayer Leverkusen have a good chance of bringing Arsenal goalkeeping target Joan Garcia to the BayArena in the summer.
Leverkusen are looking to improve their number one position in the summer and have been linked to both Garcia and Manchester City’s Stefan Ortega. Garcia is head coach Xabi Alonso’s preferred option for the goalkeeping position.
Despite being linked with a move to Arsenal, Leverkusen have a good chance of signing Garcia as he wants to play Champions League football, which die Werkself can offer, and at the BayArena, he would be number one, whereas at Arsenal, he would likely play backup to David Raya. The asking price for Garcia will be around €15-20m.
If Garcia does decide to move to the Premier League, Ortega is the alternative option. Leverkusen have already made contact with the former Arminia Bielefeld goalkeeper about a move in the summer. The 32-year-old will be cheaper than Garcia as he will cost around €5-8m and also comply with the local player rules for the Champions League. However, Ortega is still trying to become City number one under Pep Guardiola.
Two alternatives are SC Freiburg’s Noah Atubolu and Napoli’s Alex Meret, whose contract at the Serie A side expires in the summer.
