While not every player manages to get the same kind of minutes at FC Barcelona, each of them have a role to play. Thus, for the Catalan club, it is important that each player knows exactly what role that is. Even captains at Barcelona, such as Ronald Araujo, are not exactly untouchable at the end of the day.
This season has clearly showcased just how vulnerable any player’s position can be if they are unable to meet the demands of the coach. While both Araujo and Marc-Andre Ter Stegen are team captains for a reason, neither of them are seen as guaranteed starters at the moment.
In Ter Stegen’s case, an injury that sidelined him for months near the early stages of the season could be pointer towards. Araujo, however, has failed to convince Hansi Flick enough with his qualities for the German coach to confidently put him in a place where he could take the starting spot of either Pau Cubarsi or Inigo Martinez.
Still, the Uruguayan defender undeniably has a market and clubs are interested in him. According to Fichajes, one of the teams that seems to be the most interested in the player’s services is Bundesliga side Bayern Munich.
The German club is reportedly willing to make a strong push for the player’s services, and they are apparently checking with his camp to see his reaction to the interest. Moreover, Barcelona are aware of the fact it would be extremely difficult to retain the player’s services if a strong offer comes their way.

By considering both their financial situation and the need to potentially generate additional revenue from somewhere, a good sale for a player that is not seen as a crucial piece of the team could be good business for them. Still, it will depend on what kind of offer Bayern Munich can come up with if they decide to truly pursue his signing.
They reportedly value both his qualities as a player and competitive mindset, and this is one of the major reasons as to why Bayern Munich are supposedly interested in him. At the same time, however, he is also a crucial part of the Barcelona locker room as well.
Interestingly, the German side would not be the first to want Araujo this season. Previously, Italian giants Juventus were also connected to the player and a move seemed to have been a real possibility at a certain point in time. Ultimately, however, things went in a different direction for Ronald Araujo.
He chose to stay with Barcelona and his contract was renewed as well. While this did guarantee his continuity, there is still no telling if the player ends up wanting to leave for a project where he is given more prominence than he currently receives at Barcelona.
