As reported by Florian Plettenberg, Bayern Munich have FC Köln’s Jonas Urbig top of their list to become Manuel Neuer’s new back-up goalkeeper next season.

Neuer’s contract extension until 2026 is set to be announced in the coming days and it’s the club’s plan to have a younger apprentice working alongside the veteran shot-stopper.

For the transfer to fall into place, Bayern plan on loaning out Daniel Peretz in the summer in order to make room and ensure that he gets regular playing time at a high level.

Jonas Urbig is currently contracted at FC Köln until 2026 and has a market value of €3m as per TransferMarkt. However, it’s likely that Köln will want more than €3m for the promising youngster.

The 21-year-old has played 11 times for the billygoats this campaign and has kept two clean sheets. So far this season, Urbig has played back-up to Marvin Schwäbe (29).
