Bayern Munich are not believed to hold any interest in signing Manchester United forward Marcus Rashford.

Rashford's future at United is increasingly uncertain after he admitted his desire for a "new challenge" in between being dropped from two matchday squads by new head coach Ruben Amorim, who has repeatedly insisted he does not want to sell the 27-year-old.

Nevertheless, it is claimed United would be willing to sell Rashford for £40m, aware that his mammoth wages of well over £300,000 per week will greatly limit any significant interest in his services.

Reports in Spain recently named Bayern as potential suitors - the Bundesliga side are one of very few who could feasibly afford such a deal - but German journalist Christian Falk has played down the speculation.

The deal is deemed "too expensive" for Bayern, who would not be able to commit to such a fee for a player who would not be a guaranteed starter for a side already boasting Harry Kane, Michael Olise, Jamal Musiala and Serge Gnabry in their forward line.

Bayern are chasing a backup striker to provide cover for Kane but have no plans to spend anywhere close to the sort of package needed to bring Rashford over from United.

Predictably, clubs from Saudi Arabia are believed to be keen on a move for Rashford, while the England international's dream transfer is reportedly a switch to Spain's La Liga.
