Davide Calabria has reached an agreement with Bologna and will sign his contract with the Rossoblu later today. As he left Milanello a few minutes ago, he had tears in his eyes and admitted that leaving AC Milan is difficult.
It has been a strange season for the right-back, initially held back by an injury and then the competition of Emerson Royal. He was also stripped of the captaincy, with the armband handed to Mike Maignan instead, and now he has played his final game for the club.
Following the signing of Kyle Walker, Milan were willing to listen to offers and Bologna jumped on the opportunity. An agreement was reached between the clubs, for a compensation of €1-2m, and the player then accepted the destination.
As he left Milanello a few minutes ago, Calabria was very emotional and had tears in his eyes as he admitted that leaving Milan is ‘difficult for me’. Having grown up in the academy as a boyhood Milan fans, one can certainly understand the emotions of the 28-year-old.
On the departure…
“It’s difficult, I’ll miss everything, everything I’ve experienced here. I’ll always carry every memory I have with me, I’m grateful for what I’ve experienced at Milan.”
How have the last few days been?
“Difficult, like getting a divorce with your wife (laughs). A new chapter will begin and I wish everyone the best.”
