A report in the Spanish media claims Barcelona are closely monitoring the developments between Alejandro Garnacho and his Manchester United boss Ruben Amorim with the intention of prising the winger away in the summer.
The 20-year-old was one of the first names on the team sheet last season with Erik ten Hag, and has been dubbed a dangerous player by legendary club captain Roy Keane. However, his situation drastically changed following the arrival of Amorim. The latter even omitted him from the squad in December ahead of the Manchester Derby alongside Marcus Rashford.
While the latter never played for the Red Devils again, Garnacho was swiftly reinstated, but hasn’t exactly retained an automatic starting berth, despite the limited choices upfront. The Argentine was in the starting lineup against Ipswich, nonetheless, but headed straight to the locker room when the manager decided to sacrifice him to bring in defensive coverage following Patrick Dorgu’s dismissal.
Amorim has now revealed that the youngster has apologised for his reaction and agreed to buy dinner for the whole squad, but many believe the signs of an imminent divorce are becoming too evident to ignore.

On Saturday, Fichajes.net delivered what they described as a ‘bombshell’ report, claiming that Barcelona have entered the fray for Garnacho. As the source explains, the Blaugrana consider the former Atletico Madrid academy product as a profile that suits their playing style thanks to his excellent dribbling, as they’re looking for players capable of wreaking havoc in the final third.
Hence, it remains to be seen if the Argentina international would be enticed by a move to Catalonia. The winger’s future has been under great scrutiny as of late, especially with INEOS unable to make progress on the renewal front. Garnacho remains one of the lowest earners in the first team with a salary of £50k per week.
