Warren Bondo believes that AC Milan must ‘do everything’ in order to beat Lecce tonight, while explaining what Sergio Conceicao asked of him.
Milan had been linked with a move for Bondo since 2022 when he was playing in the second division in France, and then when Ismael Bennacer asked to leave the club on deadline day during the winter window, a deal was rushed through.
The Frenchman signed on a long-term contract but he arrived with a physical problem to overcome, which meant that his debut was delayed. Despite recovering and making the bench more recently, he is yet to be used by Sergio Conceicao.
Bondo starts against Lecce tonight in the midfield double pivot and he spoke to DAZN and Milan TV not long before kick-off at the Stadio Via del Mare, with his comments relayed by MilanNews.
What kind of week has it been?
“A lot of work, the coach gave us confidence for today. It’s a tough match for us, we want to win.”
Do you need more heart or technique today?
“Both, you win with both. Lecce is a good team, you have to do everything to win.”
What did the coach ask you to do?
“To be the team’s balancer, attack, defend, recover the ball… Everything.”
How does it feel to be making your debt?
“I’m happy for me and my family. It’s a big thing. Since I arrived here, I’ve been welcomed well, I’ve gotten into the rhythm and the coach has given me confidence. For me today it’s a tough match but I want to do well to win.”
