Borussia Mönchengladbach – already linked with two other Bundesliga professionals – are reportedly also interested in St. Pauli winger Elias Saad. Florian Plettenberg claims that BMG sporting director Roland Virkus is a big fan of the 25-year-old.
Saad made his German top flight debut this season. The Hamburg-native and former German Futsal international only played fourth tier football until making his 2. Bundesliga debut for Hamburg’s Kiezkicker in April 2023. Then 23 years-of-age, it appeared as Saad’s time to break through at a higher level had already passed.
Saad ended up scoring nine 2. Bundesliga goals for his current club. Early season, he recorded a memorable brace in a matchday five victory over Freiburg. Unfortunately, he succumbed to injury the very next week and was out of action from October until February.
Now back fit, Saad recorded his third goal of the current campaign in matchday 27’s narrow loss to Bayern Munich. He also registered an assist in last week’s away victory over Holstein Kiel. Saad has featured in Alexander Blessin’s starting XI over the last four matchdays.
Saad’s current contract with St. Pauli runs until the end of next season, meaning that club may be interested in cashing in on him. The now once-capped Tunisian international maintains an estimated market worth of €4m.
