It ended Bournemouth 1 Newcastle 1.
Eddie Howe’s side starting and finishing the match the better side.
However, rather losing their way in the middle part.
A draw was a pretty fair result overall.
However, looking at the individuals in black and white, interesting to get an independent perspective on how this played out.
‘Whoscored ratings use data from every single Premier League match, over 200 raw statistics included in the automated calculation of a player’s rating, weighted according to their influence within the game.
Every event of importance is taken into account, with a positive or negative effect on ratings weighted in relation to its area on the pitch and its outcome.’
Now whoscored have published their independent player ratings for this Bournemouth 1 Newcastle 1 match:
(The Whoscored graphics can only show four subs at any one time, Almiron getting a 6.0 rating from them)
As you can see, eight players in total getting a rating of 7.0 or higher. Four from Bournemouth and four from Newcastle United.
Both goalkeepers scoring 7.0, both playing well and neither could do anything about the goals.
Whilst sub Barnes (7.1) did well and created the equaliser and Bruno (7.2) was arguably Newcastle’s man of the match.
Tavernier (7.9) tipped Anthony Gordon (7.8) to be the Whoscored man of the match, though apart from the goal and a few other decent touches, he generally struggled and certainly wasn’t Newcastle’s best player.
