Carlo Ancelotti’s future at Real Madrid has never been more insecure, for the team’s elimination from the UEFA Champions League has well and truly raised questions over his ability to take the team forward.

Los Blancos have not been playing positive football for a while now, but the manager’s ability to grind the results through had his back for a long time.

Now, however, his luck appears to have run out and the team’s poor run of form has finally caught up with Ancelotti.

Brazil are keen

It is no secret that the Brazilian national team have Ancelotti as the top-placed candidate to take over the reins and lead the Selecao into the next FIFA World Cup.

Real Madrid’s elimination from the UCL, needless to say, has made it more possible than ever before and they are now hellbent on securing his signing if he is to leave Real Madrid.

In a recent update, ever-reliable Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano relays that the Brazilian federation are ‘obsessed’ with Ancelotti and that they are maintaining pressure to secure his arrival.

The Selecao administrators, in fact, have sent people to Madrid to contact Ancelotti’s close circle and establish contacts that can result in his appointment. After all, they wish for him to lead the team into the upcoming World Cup.

The coming week will be crucial for Ancelotti on that front with the Brazilian national team set to put pressure on the Italian coach and the decision of what his next step will be lies completely on him.

Should Ancelotti be open to signing for Brazil, he will be unanimously appointed. Else, they have alternatives on their radars including Al Hilal coach Jorge Jesus. The coming days, thus, are vital.

The Real Madrid boss, for his part, made it clear earlier today that he will not make any decision on his future until the season is over. So, it remains to be seen how it affects Brazil and their strategy to recruit the Italian.
