Corinthians are in talks to sign former Manchester City and Liverpool forward Mario Balotelli as a free agent, according to the club’s academy director.
Balotelli is looking for the 11th club of a nomadic career after leaving Turkish Süper Lig side Adana Demispor when his contract expired last month.
The 33-year-old scored seven goals in 16 league appearances during his second spell at Adana, having rejoined the club from Switzerland’s Sion last summer.
Brazil could be the next destination for the Italian with the club’s academy director, Claudinei Alves, confirming negotiations are underway to sign Balotelli.
“Corinthians are prepared to offer him a two-year contract,” Alves said, as per ESPN. “The [Corinthians] president [Augusto Melo] is the one who is leading talks.
“He wants three millions euros per year and a two-year contract. Balotelli’s intention is to return to play for the Italian national team.”
Balotelli has scored 14 goals in 37 caps for Italy at international level but has not been capped for the Azzurri since 2018.
