Out-of-contract trio Shandon Baptiste, Saman Ghoddos and Charlie Goode will leave Brentford as free agents upon the expiry of their contracts.
The club have announced ahead of their final game against Newcastle that Neal Maupay will return to Everton at the end of his loan spell, along with Sergio Reguilon returning to Tottenham at the end of his.
Brentford signed Baptiste and Goode from Oxford United and Northampton, respectively, in 2020. Ghoddos rejoined the club from free-agent status last summer.
The Bees’ director of football, Phil Giles, said of Baptiste: “In truth, I’m sure Shandon would want to be involved on the pitch more than he has been, which is why we feel it’s the right time to let him become a regular and key player at another club.”
He said of Ghoddos: “It was an easy decision to bring him back last summer and he has completely justified that decision. We shouldn’t rule out him coming back again sometime in the future.”
Speaking about Goode, who spent time on loan at Wigan Athletic this season, Giles said: “Charlie has been incredibly unlucky with injuries and illness since not long after joining us.”
Giles also thanked Maupay and Reguilon for their performances for Brentford this season.
He said: “Brentford retains the option to bring Neal back permanently if we wish, but we have explained that we will pause that decision for now, having already signed Igor Thiago from Club Brugge.
“Sergio was the perfect player at the perfect time for us,” said Giles. “It was a loan that, at best, would suit both parties and that is exactly the way that it has turned out.
“On behalf of everyone at Brentford I want to thank all the players who are leaving us this summer and wish them every success in the future.”
