Caio Henrique (26) has successfully undergone surgery on a knee injury that he sustained against OGC Nice, Get French Football News understands.
Speaking at his pre-match press conference on Thursday, Monaco manager Adi Hütter revealed that Henrique would undergo surgery on the ACL injury.
The injury was suffered in the second half against Nice, and whilst the Brazilian was able to continue for around 30 minutes following the contact, the severity of the injury became clearer following further tests. On Tuesday, Monaco released the following statement:
“Caio Henrique has a sprain on the left knee with an injury to the anterior cruciate ligament being evaluated.”
“He is going for surgery. For this injury, it’s not the same for every player but I want him back as quickly as possible. I can’t say exactly [how long he’ll be absent]. Perhaps six, seven, or eight months,” said the Austrian manager in a press conference, attended by Get French Football News.
Henrique underwent surgery on Monday, GFFN understands. With Hütter citing a potential eight-month absence, it is unclear whether he will feature again this season. Ismail Jakobs is Henrique’s natural replacement, and he started against Olympique de Marseille.
