Juventus Women - after last weekend's success that mathematically earned them Scudetto success - are scheduled to play their last away match of the season at Fiorentina, kicking off at 12:30 CEST on Friday, 24 April.
In his pre-match interview on the eve of the match, Coach Massimiliano Canzi talked about Juventus Women's first week as Italian champions.
"We're immensely happy, in the knowledge that we have done something very important, after a tortuous and complicated journey. When you say that we won the championship three matchdays in advance, you might think that we won it easily, but in reality it was never like that. We were first in the standings from the first day and we will be first until the last. In between, however, we had some difficult moments that we managed to overcome, keeping our feet on the ground. We did not get caught up in the euphoria when everything was going well and everyone was saying that the championship was already over; at the same time, when many were saying that it was an open race, we were balanced in continuing on our way with a calmness that has characterised us since the beginning of the season. All this is certainly thanks to the players and the club, which never raised the tension level when it was not necessary. Even when we only picked up one point in three matches, we always had the total support of the club.
"Yes it is, and I think that was evident in the celebrations and also in the statements of many players. I don't usually name names, but I think it's right to do so in these situations. There are girls like Alessia Capelletti and Lysianne Proulx who played less on the field, Alisha Lehmann and Viola Calligaris who played less in the last period, but they never failed to support their teammates. They always trained to their maximum: this is fundamental because it raises the level of training. I really applaud those who played a little less, but never failed to support their teammates: they have a great attitude.
"I hoped to be able to do something great. I knew I was arriving at a less easy time for the club because we were coming from two seasons where we had won less than in previous seasons. I hoped, and I made this choice also with this desire, to try to leave something important behind.
"We will play these matches as we have played all our matches, that is, at the maximum possible level. Inevitably I will try to field some players who may have played little lately, more than anything else because they need to recover in order to be in the best condition for the Italian Cup final, which is now the most important match for us. We will undoubtedly play to our maximum. Maybe with some rotation, but trying to honour our season and also the championship as much as possible because there are still verdicts to be established."
