West Ham’s appointment of Julen Lopetegui hasn’t worked out, and pundit, Jamie Carragher, has named the man he believes is the perfect replacement for the Spaniard.
With the Premier League‘s January transfer window soon to open for business, it will be interesting to see how busy West Ham are, given the strength of their summer buying.
Some players signed before the beginning of the campaign have worked out, many haven’t, and with Julen Lopetegui unable to get the Hammers dancing to his tune, there’s an inevitability about his demise.
“It feels like a good fit [Potter to West Ham] in terms of where people were saying they wanted to take their game. Because Lopetegui isn’t that manager,” the former Liverpool ace said.
Graham Potter was tipped for the Southampton job, but that vacancy is about to be filled, so the ex-Chelsea manager is still available.
Former Hammers manager, David Moyes, has delivered a verdict on whether Lopetegui should be sacked, and it appears that the world and his wife have a vested interest in what happens next for the Spaniard.
At present he remains in position, and there’s been no word whatsoever from the West Ham hierarchy that the status quo is about to change.
If they were thinking of bringing Potter – or anyone else – in, then clearly the Hammers will need to work fast given that the January transfer window opens in less than a fortnight.
