Charly Musonda has reportedly disappeared from his new club Zulte Waregem.

The formerly highly tipped young star spent 10 years under contract at Chelsea, but his career never quite turned out as planned.

The 25-year-old underwent multiple unsuccessful loan spells in a bid to develop as a player with the Blues, including time spent at Celtic, Real Betis, and Vitesse, but ultimately, the Belgium couldn’t quite make the grade.

After being released as a free agent by Chelsea last month, Musonda was offered a trial at Zulte Waregem – a club in the Belgium First Division.

The winger impressed in training and in a trial match, and so was offered a permanent deal by the club.

However, shockingly, Musonda is yet to be seen or heard from since initially disappearing for ‘family reasons.’

What have the club said?

Obviously it must be quite a shock for a club, to offer a free agent a deal and then not receive any contact for a matter of weeks.

At first it seems as though they believed Musonda would return to pen the deal, but now, they’re not so sure.

“When will Charly Musonda return to training? I don’t know,” said chief executive Eddy Cordier, per the Daily Mail.

“Will he ever come back? No idea.

“I don’t know whether we will pull the plug on him because he hasn’t been in since he trained a couple of weeks ago and there has been no contact.

“It’s more important that we concentrate on the group of players who are here at the club for pre-season.”

What a bizarre situation.

For whatever reason Musonda hasn’t got in touch, we hope everything is okay with him personally and that the matter will soon be resolved.

The one-time Belgium youth prospect might have had the talent to go on to become one of the best players in Europe.

And given the right opportunity, especially back in his homeland, who knows how much he how we could progress once his career is back on track.

Zulte Waregem could certainly do with his talents also, given they slumped to an all time first division low of 16th place last campaign.
