Chelsea emerged victorious over Tottenham Hotspur in the Premier League on Thursday night, enjoying a narrow 1-0 win against their London rivals.
Chelsea skipper Enzo Fernandez scored the only goal of the game, a header from a measured Cole Palmer cross early in the second half. But the ball was in the net twice more after that, with both efforts disallowed after lengthy VAR checks.
First, Moises Caicedo thought he'd doubled Chelsea's lead with a rare goal, only for a marginal offside to eventually be spotted following a four-minute review.
Tottenham substitute Pape Sarr later had a would-be equaliser ruled out when he was rightly deemed, on second glance from referee Craig Pawson, to have fouled Caicedo to claim the ball.
Nine yellow cards also underpinned the prickly nature of this city derby.
