Increasing reports are coming out claiming that Chelsea are one of the teams interested in a Real Madrid superstar.

Rodrygo Goes is being gradually squeezed out at the Bernabau thanks to the arrival of Kylian Mbappe, and is no longer starting regularly despite having made such brilliant contributions in the last couple of years.

Sources in Spain headed up by Fichajes says that the Brazil star is emerging as one of our “top target”, with the Blues confident they can secure a €120m deal for the winger.

Real Madrid won’t want to sell, but they’ll also be aware that this could be the moment to cash in on a player who stands to play a lot less this season, and may be seeing the peak of his value.

The piece also contains the suggestion that Rodrygo could be used up front for us – it’s something he did at times last season for Madrid, and it would certainly be interesting to see it tried in the very different environment of the Premier League.

Now 24, the Brazil international is no longer a kid. He’s also too old to fit into our usual transfer strategy. But he might just be good enough we’re willing to forget all that and bring in a superstar player.

Chief among our potential rivals for Rodrygo are Liverpool, who are considering him as a potential Mo Salah replacement should the Egyptian leave this summer. That would certainly makes things more difficult for us, but it also wouldn’t be impossible to sign him either.

The Reds can offer a more complete team with a clearer path to further trophies. Right now, Chelsea are just hoping they reach the top 5. If they don’t deals like this and many others will be killed instantly.
