Chelsea beat Copenhagen 2-1 to secure a first-leg victory in their Europa Conference League round of 16 tie. The Blues take a slender advantage to Stamford Bridge next week.

Despite a leggy performance in Denmark, the Blues did just about enough to seal the win, making it back-to-back victories following their win over Southampton in the league.

However, it was not all smooth sailing for Chelsea as they suffered what looked like a massive blow when full-back Malo Gusto came off with an ankle injury. Marc Cucurella replaced him.

Gusto looked like he twisted the leg in a clash with minimal contact, and then the ball ricocheted off the same leg when he closed down a cross after returning to the field from treatment. He immediately signalled to the bench.

Gusto has not been as good as last season, but the 21-year-old Chelsea full-back is an important player for Enzo Maresca, having made 28 appearances across all competitions this term.

However, luck shined on the Blues, with Maresca confirming that Gusto did not suffer any major injuries and should be in line to start on Sunday versus Leicester City.

Chelsea are bidding to finish in the top four and secure a spot in the UEFA Champions League next season. The Blues need all hands on deck for this crucial run-in.

Central defender Benoit Badiashile started yesterday after missing 16 games for Chelsea through an injury. Fellow centre-halves Wesley Fofana and Trevoh Chalobah are also back in action.
