Chelsea player nominated for December POTM award despite club’s sticky form

Chelsea’s December actually started incredibly, with some great results. But unfortunately it ended badly with two defeats and a draw.

The Blues went into December on fire, beating Aston Villa, Southampton, Tottenham, and Brentford in the Premier League and also breezing past Astana and Shamrock Rovers in the Conference League.

Sources: Two Bournemouth defenders ‘ones to watch’ for Chelsea in January, Joao Felix staying, Goalkeeper on hold, more…

But then things took a turn and they have seemingly hit a sticky patch of form. Even though Enzo Maresca said he was ‘absolutely happy’ with the 0-0 draw against Everton, I only saw a very poor performance unfortunately. And then another one in our defeat against Fulham, and it was same again in our defeat to Ipswich Town which was our final game of 2024.

Whilst things HAVE been going very well for Chelsea under Enzo Maresca this season, this is certainly a period of uncertain results that will have some Blues fans feeling a little concerned.

Even after all of that though, one Blues player has been nominated for the Premier League player of the month award!

That man Palmer again

Cole Palmer is getting used to being nominated for these awards, and many others to be honest, and he is the man in line to get named the Premier League player of the month for December, as confirmed by Chelsea today.

To be honest, I don’t think he’s actually done enough to win it this time around, and as far as Palmer’s form goes, I actually don’t think he’s been amazing overall in December. He has been far from poor, but it’s certainly not the best version of Palmer, the version we have all grown to get used to.

Even still, he’s up there in the nominations and he has come up with some important goals and assists for Chelsea last month.
