Maresca bolstered by return of attacking stars as Blues prepare for another London derby

Enzo Maresca must decide how to shuffle his Chelsea pack and the Blues prepare for Sunday’s west London derby against Brentford - fewer than 72 hours after beating Tottenham.

Enzo Fernandez’s second-half header saw Chelsea to a 1-0 victory over Spurs and lifted them back into the Premier League’s top-four with eight games to play.

Maresca was boosted for that game by the return of Nicolas Jackson, who had been out for two months with a hamstring injury. The centre-forward looked sharp before tiring and eventually being replaced midway through the second-half, and it remains to be seen whether he is risked again so soon.

Noni Madueke also made his comeback from a hamstring injury as a second-half substitute and is pushing to make his first start since February’s 3-0 defeat at Brighton, with Jadon Sancho vulnerable.

Elsewhere, Reece James could come back into the team having been left on the bench against Spurs despite his good form prior to and during the international break.

Romeo Lavia missed the Tottenham victory having suffered a setback in training earlier in the week, as did centre-back Wesley Fofana, and both players are major doubts for the trip to the Gtech Community Stadium.
