Birmingham City are three games away from completing an unbeaten home record in League One this season
Chris Davies has dismissed the importance of chasing records for Birmingham City as they look to complete an unbeaten record at home this season.
The Blues have built a strong run of form at St. Andrew’s under Davies, winning 17 of their 20 games in their home ground so far this term.
The three draws came against Reading, Northampton Town and Blackpool, with only three fixtures remaining at home.
Their strong form at St. Andrew’s has been crucial to Birmingham’s comfortable position at the top of the League One table, with promotion back to the Championship all but secured.
Davies has claimed that St. Andrew’s is an intimidating place to go, with Birmingham holding the best home record of any EFL side this season.
The 40-year-old has praised the supporters for maintaining a strong atmosphere that makes it more difficult for away teams to come there.
“It’s an intimidating place to go and I think it always has been,” said Davies, via Birmingham Live.
“You go to St Andrew’s when the team’s doing well, it’s extremely intimidating for the opposition – I know that.
“You walk into our stadium now and we have a team full of confidence on the pitch and a really hostile atmosphere for the opposition, and it does make it harder.
“I’m looking forward to that to continue to grow as we go along.
“That’s one part of it and obviously the players on the pitch have been at a high level.
“They love playing at home.
“We start games generally quite aggressively and quickly and make it difficult for the opposition.
“But, as I’ve said so many times, all these records are just words at the end of the day, you have to go and prove it all over again.”
Birmingham are currently top of the League One table, and need just eight points from their final eight games to secure the title.
Birmingham’s strong home form this season has formed the backbone of their comfortable run to promotion.
But keeping these formidable results in the Championship will prove the real challenge for Davies as a manager.
Supporters are getting behind the team, and there is a great sense of momentum behind the club at last due to both on and off the pitch developments.
