Christian Eriksen has revealed his “pride” at reaching 300 Premier League appearances with the Manchester United midfielder now just 64 short of England’s top division’s record for a Dane.
Goalkeeper Thomas Sorenson sits atop the list of Danish imports with 364 appearances in the Premier League, while Red Devils’ legend Peter Schmeichel is second with 310.
However, Eriksen leads the way as Denmark’s top scorer in England with 54 goals.
He is also twelfth on the list for all-time assisters – a reflection of the skilful midfielder’s ability to be decisive in the opposition box.
Eriksen reached the 300 appearance mark against Crystal Palace at Old Trafford after coming on as a substitute in the 2-0 defeat.
And the 33-year-old received an honorary award from the Premier League for reaching the milestone.
Eriksen has made 63 appearances at Old Trafford, while playing 11 times for Brentford and 226 times for Tottenham Hotspur previously in his career.
Speaking to MUTV, the Dane revealed his happiness at reaching the big 300 in a Red shirt.
“I’m very proud, obviously it’s been a lot of years to get to that point. But I’m proud of any game I’ve played in the Premier League.”
“I’ve liked the challenges. Before I came [to the Premier League] it was like, ‘Oh, he’s a skinny guy from Denmark and Ajax’ – I think I’ve proved that any player can compete in the Premier League if you’re good enough. It’s been fun.”
Eriksen will be hoping to add a few more to his United tally before the end of the season with the midfielder’s contract at Old Trafford set to expire this summer.
