Even after forward Julian Quinones departed for the Saudi Pro League, America still have the likes of Henry Martin and Brian Rodriguez to rely on in the final third.

On the other side of the matchup, Atlas picked up three points to begin their Leagues Cup campaign with a 1-0 triumph over Houston Dynamo. Even though Atlas fell 2-1 to Real Salt Lake, the Mexican outfit still managed to qualify for the knockout stage with three total points collected in second place behind Houston in West Group 8.
