During the match against Real Sociedad, Real Madrid fans were left holding their breath when Federico Valverde collapsed in pain in the 56th minute.
The sight of the Uruguayan midfielder lying on the ground in obvious discomfort raised concerns throughout the Santiago Bernabeu.
With a crucial clash against Arsenal just a week away, the possibility of an injury to Valverde sent shockwaves through the Real Madrid camp.
Fortunately, after a thorough examination by Madrid’s medical team, it was confirmed that Valverde had only suffered a bruise on his right instep.
“You have a hard knock, a bruise… it might hurt for a few days, but it’s nothing serious,” the doctor told Valverde, as reported by Defensa Central.

Although the knock was painful, it was not deemed serious enough to sideline him. Remarkably, Valverde managed to complete the match without any further complications, even playing through extra time.
This was a massive relief for Real Madrid, as the midfielder remains a key figure in Carlo Ancelotti’s tactical plans.
Had Valverde sustained a more serious injury, it would have posed a significant problem for Real Madrid heading into their upcoming fixtures.
Ancelotti’s strategy against Arsenal heavily relies on deploying Valverde at right-back. The reason behind this tactical decision is simple: Real Madrid have been struggling defensively when using Lucas Vazquez in that position.
Ancelotti believes Valverde brings better balance to the defence, providing more stability and structure compared to other options.
Although shifting Valverde to right-back means losing his presence in midfield, the overall improvement in defensive solidity is considered worthwhile.
With Valverde confirmed to be fit and ready for upcoming matches, Ancelotti and Real Madrid fans can breathe a sigh of relief.
