West Ham are feeling more confident that Lucas Paqueta will be cleared of the betting allegations which have plagued him for over 18 months.
The Brazil star has had allegations put against him relating to spot fixing suspicions, after bets were placed in his hometown for the former Lyon midfielder to receive yellow cards in certain fixtures whilst playing for West Ham.
It has been felt for some time that the most likely outcome would be a guilty verdict, with it felt the case having to be strong against the player following such s lengthy and no-doubt costly investigation by the Football Association.
Despite this, its now appears that confidence has shifted, with Paqueta’s team putting such a robust defence together that a verdict has been delayed to June.
Should Paqueta be cleared, its fully expected that the player and West Ham will seek compensation for the turmoil and financial hits this whole case has caused.
Furthermore, Manchester City will also reignite their interest, with Pep Guardiola set to finally land his long term target this summer – should Paqueta be found not guilty.
