Yesterday seemed to be the perfect occasion for AC Milan to get their league campaign back on track, yet they fell flat once again.
As Corriere dello Sport (via MilanNews) writes this morning, Milan were celebrating 125 years of history in front of their fans and together with some of the most beloved legends of all time like Ruud Gullit, Marco Van Basten, Frank Rijkaard, Pippo Inzaghi and Clarence Seedorf.
All the conditions were there to give a jolt to the season, but Milan once again disappointed. The players left the field to a barrage of jeers and boos which made it clear that ‘patience is over’ after such a poor start in Serie A.
Zlatan Ibrahimovic appeared on screen before the game and there were even some expressions of disapproval towards the Swede. When he returned as a player he helped the resurgence, yet as a director the feeling is that he has not really connected with the supporters.
The owner of the club Gerry Cardinale was not presence, an absence that has an impact. Outside San Siro, the Curva Sud Milano in fact displayed a banner towards the ownership, singing chants such as ‘These owners do not deserve us’ and ‘we are not Americans’.

In the meantime, however, the management are continuing on the current path. Ibrahimovic confirmed it before the game, stating: “We agree with Fonseca: the team must do more and we must push for it to do more.
“What he said in public he also said in private. If I were a player, I would react, because if the coach is not happy you have to do more.”
The problem is that the results are not good enough and Milan are now 14 points behind top spot, having fallen to eighth in the table after Bologna’s win against Fiorentina.
