A win this afternoon against Leicester City would have seen Chelsea climb up to fourth in the Premier League standings. It was supposed to be a stroll in the park for Enzo Maresca’s men at Stamford Bridge, but it took them 60 minutes to break the deadlock when Marc Cucurella netted the solitary goal of the afternoon.

Robert Sanchez: 6.5

A rare clean sheet for the Spaniard who has received a lot of sticks for his high-profile errors. Was mostly comfortable with his saves but lacked confidence while claiming the crosses.

Wesley Fofana: 7

Started from the right-hand side of Chelsea’s ‘back four’.  Balanced his game between defence and attack. Linked up well at times with Jadon Sancho before being replaced by Trevoh Chalobah midway through the second half.

Tosin Adarabioyo: 7.5

A wrong outing from Sanchez forced him to head the cross clear which came off the woodwork. Fortunate not to concede an own goal but the English centre-half was spot on with his tackles, clearances and interceptions.

Levi Colwill: 7.5

Was calm and composed while playing it out from the back. Dominated the duels and made timely recoveries to deal with the Foxes’ direct play.

Marc Cucurella: 8.5

Kept on causing menace in Leicester defence with his marauding runs, crosses and cut insides. His strike from outside the box secured three massive points in the ‘top four’ hunt.

Moises Caicedo: 8

Another resolute performance from the Ecuadorian who effortlessly kept the ball moving from the deep. Regained possession expertly as he never allowed the visitors to control the midfield game.

Enzo Fernandez: 7.5

Set it up for Cucurella who did the rest to ensure a victory. Carried the ball forward from the deep and created the most chances with his down-the-middle movements.

Christopher Nkunku: 6.5

Timed his runs well and forced Mads Hermansen to make a couple of saves in the Leicester goal. Kept on switching his position with Neto before making way for Josh Acheampong minutes before the final whistle.

Cole Palmer: 6

The struggle continues for the Englishman who had an opportunity to find the net but failed to convert from the spot. Made way for Tyrique George late in the match.

Jadon Sancho: 8

Was a constant threat down the left. Won a spot-kick midway through the first-half and looked purposeful with his cut insides, crosses and one-twos.

Pedro Neto: 7

Was lively high up the pitch with his smart runs, link-ups and movements in and around the attacking third. Lacked the end product as his crosses and long balls were mostly inaccurate all afternoon.
