Barcelona are determined to have Dani Olmo available for Saturday’s match against Athletic Club, their first home fixture of the 2024-25 season. The big-money signing has yet to be registered with La Liga following his arrival, although it appears that club bosses are increasingly confident of having everything finalised before kick-off.
In preparation for Olmo’s registration becoming official, Hansi Flick has named him in his squad for the match against Athletic at the Estadi Olimpic.
As expected, Andreas Christensen is not included, after it was reported that he is expected to be out for the next two months after sustaining an injury earlier in the week. Fermin Lopez is also included, having been granted extra time off which meant that he missed last weekend’s La Liga opener.
Having Olmo available would be massive news for Barcelona. Sales need to be made before they have the margin to finalise his registration, but with Mikayil Faye, Vitor Roque and Clement Lenglet on the exit ramp, there’s a good chance that he is free to play on Saturday.
