The Seattle Sounders have had a quiet beginning to 2025. There are some heavily talked about reports and rumors that they are close to acquiring the likes of Jesus Ferreira and Paul Arriola from FC Dallas, but nothing official yet. The Sounders are going to have to stock up for 2025 as outside of MLS play, the club will have to play in the newly expanded FIFA Club World Cup as well as CONCACAF Champions Cup. Potentially even more when things get figured out with Leagues Cup and the U.S. Open Cup as well.
The Sounders have decided to start with signing some youth to the squad for 2025. The club has signed former Sounders academy product Leo Burney after the end of his NCAA career. Burney is a 23 year old centerback with 270 career professional minutes under his belt that came with the Tacoma Defiance a few years ago. The other signing is 23 year old left-back Travian Sousa from the Tacoma Defiance in MLS Next Pro. Sousa has 16 career goal contributions for Tacoma in 67 games played. Sousa also has a few appearances for the Sounders first team as well as the Oakland Roots in the USL Championship.
The Sounders will need more than just two homegrown youth signings, but, it is a start and young legs are needed heading into 2025!
