Borussia Dortmund attempted to sign Rayan Cherki during the winter transfer window, but ultimately failed to reach an agreement with Olympique Lyon.

The transfer collapsed shortly before the deadline, with Lyon owner John Textor rejecting Dortmund's €22.5 million offer and launching an attack on the Bundesliga side for their handling of the negotiations.

"Dortmund's offer was communicated disrespectfully, was well below market value and came at the wrong time," Textor said at the time.

Nevertheless, it seems Dortmund haven't given up hope of signing Cherki, with Ruhr Nachrichten reporting that the club will try again in the summer.

Cherki, 21, is contracted to Lyon until 2026. The young attacker has scored eight goals and laid on 18 assists in 35 games for the French club this season.
